BASW / MSW field placement and volunteers.

Social work interns support structured, supervised reentry-to-education work (groups + case coordination + program support). Volunteers support non-clinical success tasks (essays, applications, and career navigation).

Social work internships (BASW / MSW)

This placement is designed to be viable for BASW/MSW programs: clear responsibilities, supervised practice, documentation, and deliverables aligned to micro, mezzo, and macro learning goals.

Core practice

  • Supervised participant intake + planning
  • Case coordination (education/housing/workforce)
  • Documentation + follow-up tracking

Group work (mezzo)

  • CBT-informed skills groups (structured)
  • Anger + emotion regulation skills
  • Brief solution-focused goal groups

Skills-based groups (psychoeducation + practice), not crisis response.

Macro deliverables

  • Resource toolkits + workflows
  • Program briefs + partner memos
  • Evaluation tools (basic outcomes tracking)

Optional placement track (as available): Teaching inside carceral facilities. Interns may support curriculum building, facilitation planning, and print-friendly learning materials for inside settings, aligned with reentry-to-education continuity. (Availability depends on facility access and active partnerships.)

BASW focus

Structured skills group support, resource navigation, documentation, and follow-through systems. Great for generalist practice and justice-focused learning.

MSW focus

Adds deeper assessment elements (as appropriate), facilitation leadership, case coordination ownership, and macro deliverables (evaluation/grants/program design) depending on requirements and supervision structure.

Volunteers (professors, students, professionals)

Volunteers support non-clinical success tasks: writing, applications, mentoring, and career navigation. Social-work practice tasks belong in the BASW/MSW internship pathway.

Career navigation

Resume/LinkedIn, interview prep, career planning, job search strategy.

Mentoring (structured)

Goal-setting + accountability with clear boundaries and referral protocols.
